Program Director/Executive Chair

The Program Director and Executive Chair is the chief student position at KSDB. The position entails coordinating the department directors, facilitating communication between departments, and implementing the station plan for the semester. The Program Director is responsible for hiring all the department directors with approval from the station manager. The Program Director is responsible for the general programming at the station (ex. choosing music genre and times for play) in consultation with the relevant department directors and approves all material prior to broadcast. As Executive Chair, the position includes organizing and conducting weekly staff meetings, supervising the executive staff and the implementation of their department's plan, ensuring full staffing at the station, representing the station to the campus and community, and advancing the educational opportunities the radio station provides. The Executive Chair is responsible for coordinating and conducting research for the station. Additional duties may be assigned.

Underwriting Director

The Underwriting Director is responsible for setting the underwriting rates with approval of the station manager for the Wildcat 91.9 and the University Controller's Office. This position also requires hiring a small staff (guidelines are proscribed by station manager), maintaining and managing a working sales staff. The Underwriting Director is also responsible for billing, and maintaining accurate records of sales and clients, including keeping traffic records for all departments of the radio station. The Underwriting Director also must ensure FCC compliance of KSDB's underwriting spots. Additional duties may be assigned.

Sales Manager

The Sales Manager is responsible for motivating, acting as lead sales representative, and assisting the Underwriting Director with his/her responsibilities. This position requires previous sales experience. The position is commission only. Additional duties may be assigned.


Underwriting Representative

Underwriting Representatives are responsible for selling underwriting announcements, ensure FCC compliance, accurately completely contracts, communicating with and supporting clients. Underwriting Representatives must get all on air material approved by client before it goes on the air. This is a commission only position.

Music Director

The Music Director is responsible for hiring and training all disc jockeys and specialty show hosts within the proscribed guidelines of the station manager. The Music Director is responsible for the selection of specific music within the format proscribed by the Program Director. The Music Director creates play-lists for each broadcast day and supervises the staff of the Music Department. The Music Director must stay in communication with record labels and generate timely reports for CMJ and other tracking organizations to continue the flow of music to KSDB for on-air and promotional use. Additional duties may be assigned.


Urban Director

The Urban Director has the same responsibility as the Music Director in relation to urban music programming (see Music Director). Additional duties may be assigned.


Music Assistant

The Music Assistant is responsible for compiling music selections, as proscribed by the Music Director, for on air rotation. Experience with CDRs and PCs are a must. This is an assistant position and this person is hired and supervised by the Music Director. The Music Assistant also aids in keeping a log of all music that comes into the station. Additional duties may be assigned.


Production Director

The Production Director is responsible for creating every cart, liner, station id, etc and properly hiring a small staff within the hiring guidelines. The Production Director doesn't have to make every cart or promotion, but is responsible for their organization on the computer and their relevance to the station. In addition to the production of spots for the station, the Production Director has to work well with the underwriting staff to see that underwriters of this station are pleased with their spots. They also must keep in communication with the Traffic Director as well as the Promotions dept.
A must for this job is the ability to work with people and in a timely manner. The production director must also have computer knowledge and experience with the audio editing program Adobe Audition v. 1.2, 2.x. Additional duties may be assigned.


News Director

The News Director is responsible for staffing and training news reporters and anchors. The News Director is also responsible for scheduling daily newscasts with assistance from the Program Director. The News Director must have a news background. The News Director is responsible for organizing KSDB’s coverage of the student body elections and the student body presidential debate in the spring. Additional duties may be assigned.


Talk Show Director

The Talk Show Director is responsible for feature programming such as feature talk shows and public affairs talk shows. The Talk Show Director is also responsible for properly hiring (guidelines are provided by station manager) all talk show hosts, training, communicating, and meticulously recording and archiving all talk shows. Additional duties may be assigned.

Sports Director

The Sports Director at the Wildcat 91.9 is in charge of interviewing, hiring and overseeing a sports staff of at least ten individuals. The Sports Director must handle all scheduling and programming of sporting events on the station, as well as staffing these broadcasts. This individual must ensure proper checking out of equipment on a regular basis and be responsible for making it available seven days a week. The Sports Director is responsible for staffing a weekly sports talk show, and other various sports specialty programs. As the Sports Director you must also be meticulous about archiving each broadcast on tape and storing those broadcasts at the station. You must have the ability to maintain constant communication with your staff through monthly meetings and email. The job entails one executive staff meeting per week, and allows for a good deal of on-air experience. Additional duties may be assigned.


Promotions Director

The Promotions Director is responsible for generating publicity for station events, contests, and program. The Promotions Director must create a promotional plan in advance of the semester assure FCC regulations are observed, and create press releases for station activities. The Promotions Director also coordinates the Department Representatives to create promotions for activities related to the station. The Promotions Director is also responsible for scheduling and organizing all station events and live remotes. Additional duties may be assigned.

Web Director

The Web Director is completely in charge of the website http://wildcatradio.ksu.edu. This director is primarily responsible for keeping content on the site up to date, including news, sports information, music charts, and podcasting. The director is also in charge of all creative content of the site, including, but not limited to design, logos, and site hierarchy and programming. The creative content of the site must, however, be agreed upon by a majority of the Executive Staff.

TV Director

The TV Director is completely in charge of the cable channel 21. This director is primarily responsible for keeping content on the station up to date, including videos, production. The director is also in charge of all creative content of the station. The creative content of the station must, however, be agreed upon by a majority of the Executive Staff.
